Onam Celebrations 2025 –" KALASA"

KMCT College of Hotel Management and Catering Technology celebrated Onam 2025, titled “KALASA”, on 27 August 2025  with great enthusiasm and cultural pride on the college campus.

Onam, the festival of harmony, inclusiveness, and prosperity, reflects the rich cultural heritage of Kerala and commemorates the reign of King Mahabali, an era marked by social equality, unity, and the welfare of all.

The celebrations commenced with the creation of a beautifully designed Athapookalam, collaboratively prepared by students, which added vibrant colours and traditional charm to the campus. Adding to the festive spirit, a third-year student, Muhammed Abdul Ashif NK, portrayed the role of King Mahabali (Maveli), captivating the audience and enhancing the traditional essence of the occasion.

As part of the celebrations, the Hotel Management students showcased their culinary expertise by preparing a traditional Onam Sadya in the college training kitchen. The Sadya was served to teaching and non-teaching staff members as well as students, reflecting the true spirit of hospitality and togetherness.

The cultural programmes were further enriched by a Nadaswaram Mela by the Kothachira Brothers, which created a traditional and auspicious ambience on campus. The enthusiastic participation of students made the celebration lively and memorable.

The Onam celebration “KALASA 2025” concluded with a cultural gathering, leaving behind cherished memories and reinforcing the values of unity, equality, and cultural pride.
